Students First
8th Grade Promotion
In order to recognize the successful completion of their middle school education, eligible students are invited to participate in a ceremony at the end of the year. This 8th grade promotion is a celebration of your child's accomplishments and marks the important transition to high school.
To participate in the promotion ceremony, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Meet the District’s academic promotion criteria (not be retained in grade 8)
- Maintain a G.P.A. of 1.5 or better for work completed in the eighth grade year
- Maintain a record of good attendance and behavior. Students with repeated suspensions due to truancy or discipline referrals may be denied participation privileges. The parent should keep in close contact with their student’s assistant principal.
Look for more announcements about graduation plans in May.
Promotion Activities
There are many 8th grade promotion and end of the year activities. Students who have worked hard, kept their grades competitive for high school placement, and are active in our many extra curricular activities traditionally enjoy some of these activities.
