End of the Year Activities
Posted 05/22/2019 02:04PM

Dear Chaboya Students, Parents and Guardians of Eighth Graders,

Plans are being made for 8th grade promotion and end of the year activities. This has been a busy year and we are proud of our students who have worked hard, maintained their grades, and participated in our many extra curricular activities.

Unfortunately, there is a small number of students at Chaboya who are at risk of not meeting the requirements for promotion, or who continue to exercise poor discretion and thus may not earn the privilege of participating in these activities. Therefore, the assistant principals and I believe at this time a reminder is in order. The assistant principals have been meeting with at-risk students and going over how to calculate grade point averages. If a cumulative GPA (grade point average) is at or below a 1.5, careful attention needs to be taken to insure that grades are improved so that students meet the 1.5 promotion requirement established by the Evergreen Board of Trustees. Fourth quarter progress reports go home after May 24.

The following are most of the end-of-the year activities (Any changes will be published on Chaboya's website):

May 27

  • Memorial Day, no school

May 30

  • Honor Society Trip to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk (6PM return)

May 31

  • Promotion Dance (8th graders only, 6-8 PM, in the gymnasium)

June 4

  • Most Spirited classes celebration

June 10

  • Sports/Department Award Ceremony (During the Day)
  • Awards Night in the gym at (6:00PM) *Invitation only

June 11

  • Great America Trip (8th graders only)

June 12

  • Minimum Day Dismissal at 12:45 PM
  • Promotion Ceremony at 2:00 PM

June 13

Thank you for making this a memorable school year at Chaboya!
