The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. Click on the headline to see Clark's top AR readers.

California's Summer Nutrition Programs can help feed your children by serving healthy lunches during the summer months. The summer nutrition programs serve all children through age 18 at no charge. The programs also operate activities for children that are safe and fun. Children receive complete, wholesome meals and parents receive help in stretching their food dollars. You can look for a site near you by visiting the Summer Meal Service Map at: http://www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks Or the Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3Hungry (1-866-348-6479). For Spanish, call 1-877-8Hambre (1-877-848-6273) (Evergreen SD is not a Summer Program site)

Please take a minute to access your PowerSchool accounts, review that your contact information is correct and then file your login information somewhere you can easily find it in August. This is especially important because at the start of the 2018-19 school year, you only be able to find out your children's new class assignments by logging on these systems.

As the end of the school year approaches, please be mindful of your student's lunch balance. Students with a current negative balance will be sent home with notices weekly, in addition to email and phone notifications. Please make every attempt to bring your account to good standing before the school year is over. Account balances, positive or negative, will carry over with your student to the following year. If you are experiencing a financial hardship, please call the CNS office at 408-223-4500 to work out a payment plan. Payments can be made with cash or check at your child's school or safely and securely anytime at www.myschoolbucks.com

Project Cornerstone/K-Kids Club started the Kindness Rock Garden project in the front of the school. The goal of this project is to have every student here at Clark write something kind on a rock and place it in the garden. We will be getting a little fence to go around the garden thanks to a donation made by the Naidu Family.

Thank you to all the families that have donated their unused toiletries to our Cornerstone/K-Kids! We are discontinuing collection for this year, but we hope that you will save them during summer travels and bring them in during the next school year! The Salvation Army appreciates the baggies we fill, as they do have days for the homeless to shower at their facilities. It makes it easy for them to hand each person in need a baggie with the necessary items.

I am happy to report that we received the 2018 California Distinguished School Award! I was notified on February 8th that Carolyn Clark was eligible for this award based on our CAASPP scores. We had a 12 point increase in our reclassification percentage and were high performing in ALL categories and sub groups. The application was due by March 12th. I was just notified and thought I'd share the exciting news with our parent community. We wouldn't be a California Distinguished School without your support... THANK YOU! Mrs. Juarez
